This month's picture shows the snow covered Incineration Plant in Biebesheim. In the incinerator for special waste, temperatures about 1200? C are reached in the two rotary kilns that incinerate material, which is turned into chemically stable slag. Toxic fumes are then purified in a multi-stage process.

Whereever one works with chemicals, much attention has to be paid. But if something happens, you have to act instantly. For that reason showers for eyes and skin are located allover our facillities.

Our corporate firefighters are located on our facilities and are always ready for intervention. Two professional trainers ensure that every shift includes at least 6 employees with a firefighting education for example in Biebesheim. In case of emergency they have the skills to initiate necessary actions.

The fact, that our plant in Biebesheim is situated in the middle of agricultural area, gets us unusual visits from time to time. In spring a crow chose one of our scrubbing towers for breeding.

Every vehicle departing from the HIM facilities will be subjected to extensive tire-cleaning. Trucks have to drive into a water basin, where tires are being showerd from all sites. Sewage will be filtered before delivered to a local public sewage plant.

Neben der Aufzeichnung meteorologischer Daten umfasst die Überwachung des Luftpfades die regelmäßige Überwachung von Bioindikatoren. Diese Wirkungs-Untersuchungen ermöglichen durch eine integrative Erfassung der luftgetragenen Schadstoffe eine Aussage zu den Emissions-Einflüssen durch den Deponiebetrieb.
Durch standardisierte Graskulturen können anorganische Schadstoffe und durch standardisierte Grünkohlkulturen können organische Schadstoffe nachgewiesen werden.
